100,000+ SIGNATURES
TO RECALL GRAY DAVIS

(SACRAMENTO) – The Recall Gray Davis Committee announced today that over 100,000 signatures have already been collected for the Recall Gray Davis campaign. The surge above the 100,000 signature mark came after the Chairman of the Recall Gray Davis Committee, The Honorable Howard Kaloogian, appeared on talk radio stations throughout the state last week to rally listeners to collect 50,000 signatures in the last week alone.

The 100,000 signature mark is significant because this will trigger the official beginning of the count of valid recall signatures by the County Election offices.

This is the first time in California history that a recall effort against any elected statewide officeholder has reached this stage in the recall process!

Over 400,000 Petitions Already Distributed

“This is just the tip of the iceberg. There are over 400,000 recall petitions in circulation right now and our push in the past week has been to get people to send their petitions back in to our headquarters,” declared Recall Gray Davis Committee Chief Strategist, Sal Russo.

Each petition contains 5 signature blocks meaning that up to 2 million signatures could be collected when all of the petitions currently circulating are returned. The Recall Gray Davis Committee has also mailed out tens of thousands of petitions via U.S. mail over the past three weeks in response to requests from California voters.

Over 8,000,000 Hits to RecallGrayDavis.com Website

The surging recall campaign has benefited from strong Internet traffic to the official website of the Recall Gray Davis Committee – www.RecallGrayDavis.com which has logged over 8 million hits since it went online February 4, 2003.

“We are making history with the success of this recall thanks to the use of the new technology of the Internet allowing us simultaneous communication and distribution of petitions to voters in every part of the state,” explained Russo.
